History of Tinsel

The history of Tinsel where it came from and the first piece of Christmas tinsel:

Christmas Tinsel was first invented in Germany during the early 17th Century. The first pieces of tinsel were made from silver. A special machine that shredded the silver to be used for tinsel was used to make strips.

The first silver tinsel pieces soon lost their shine so artificial tinsel was soon invented and became popular and cheaper to manufacture. Thus began the history of tinsel.

The inventor of tinsel is not recorded so is now unknown to the history of tinsel.
