Ingredients For Gingerbread


225g of plain flour
100g of margarine
150mls of milk
90g of soft brown sugar
75g of treacle
75g of golden syrup
1 teaspoon of ground ginger
1 teaspoon of mixed spice
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
1 teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda
2 eggs

In a pan melt the margarine, sugar and the syrup and treacle over a gentle heat.

Add the mixed spice, cinnamon and ground ginger, the milk and the eggs.

Mix the bicarbonate of soda with a little water to form a paste and add this to the pan. Stir then beat in the flour.

Grease or line with greased proof paper two 1lb loaf tins and then pour in the mixture.

Bake for 35 minutes.
