Ingredients For Fruit Loaf


225g of self raising flour
15og of sugar
1 beaten egg
1.5 tablespoons of treacle
200mls of milk
150g of sugar
225g of raisins
225g of sultanas

Preheat the oven to 160C or gas mark 3.

Heat the milk and the treacle gently until they are thoroughly combined, but be careful not to over heat.

Mix the flour, sugar and the dried fruits together.

Beat the egg into the treacle and milk mix. Then add this mixture to the dried fruit, flour and sugar mixture.

Place the mixture into a greased or grease proofed 2lb loaf tin. Gently shake to flatten the mixture.

Place in the top shelf of the oven and bake for an hour.

To test if it is properly baked place a fine skewer into the loaf. If it has been baked enough it will come out clean.
