The Drummer Boy

The Drummer Boy is my latest novel about the ghost of a Gordon Highlander Drummer Boy from the Battle of Waterloo who haunts a modern day army nurse.

It is packed with trivia about the Napoleonic War, His Majesty's Theatre in Aberdeen, the history of Tidworth Military Hospital and about modern day nursing and emergency first aid as well as the battlefield medical care during the Battle of Waterloo.

How To Make

In a dry frying pan place the sesame seeds and toast them over a medium heat until they are aromatic and golden. Remove from the heat and allow to cool down.

Pre heat the barbecue.

Cut the courgettes diagonally into thick slices, toss with olive oil and then season with the sea salt and freshly ground black pepper.

Cook for 2 - 3 minutes on each side until they appear charred and are tender. Remove from the barbecue and allow to cool.

Place the dressing ingredients together and mix thoroughly. Add salt and pepper if required.

Add everything, except the sesame seeds and the dressing, into a large bowl, add the dressing and toss around.

Add the sesame seeds by sprinkling over the top and then serve.
