The Drummer Boy

The Drummer Boy is my latest novel about the ghost of a Gordon Highlander Drummer Boy from the Battle of Waterloo who haunts a modern day army nurse.

It is packed with trivia about the Napoleonic War, His Majesty's Theatre in Aberdeen, the history of Tidworth Military Hospital and about modern day nursing and emergency first aid as well as the battlefield medical care during the Battle of Waterloo.

How To Make Beef Lasagne

Add a small amount of cooking oil to a large frying pan, add the onions and brown.

Add the steak mince and fry until brown. Once browned add the chopped tomatoes, tomato paste, cheese, herbs and Worcester sauce. Simmer for thirty minutes. Whilst it is simmering make the white sauce.

How To Make White Sauce

In a saucepan melt the butter. Gently add the flour and stir it in continuously.

Now slowly add the milk and continue to stir.

Bring gently to the boil and add the mustard powder and parmesan cheese.

In a large oven proof dish, or use two smaller ones and freeze one, layer the beef mixture then pasta sheets and then the white sauce. Now add the grated cheddar cheese.

Cook in the oven at 170C or gas mark 4 for about half an hour.

Serve with fresh salad, garlic bread and olives.
